David, Angela and Bradley
Prior to joining the Childcare Resources program, David and Angela met all of our qualifications. However, their son Bradley, 2, remained on our waiting list for more than a year due to the limited number of infant and toddler spaces available at accredited centers in Indian River County. Although both parents work full time, their paychecks simply did not stretch far enough to afford quality childcare for Bradley. They were thrilled when Childcare Resources finally had a spot for him at Maitland Farm Preschool, where he is actively learning and discovering new things every day. David and Angela can go to work each day knowing Bradley is receiving quality care and education that they can afford. |

Julissa and Cristian
Julissa, a working mother, was struggling to afford stimulating, reliable childcare for her son Cristian. She wanted the best for her little boy, but just could not find room in her budget on top of their basic living expenses.
Julissa was thrilled to be eligible for Childcare Resources childcare tuition assistance, as she met our income guidelines and not only worked full time, but was also attending college full time. Since joining our program, Julissa has remained a diligent employee and worked hard to further her education so that she can provide Cristian with the best opportunities possible.
Realizing that a higher education will help her financial stability, after recently earning her Associates Degree in elementary education Julissa has begun working toward her Bachelor’s begree in special education. Julissa is also volunteering in her son’s preschool classroom because she knows it is important for families to be involved in the education of their children.
While his mother works, Cristian attends a quality early education program that nurtures his learning and growth and will prepare him for success in school and life. Your annual support gives families like Julissa and Cristian the opportunity to work toward a bright future!

Rose is a single mom to Rosemelia, 5 and Adalie, 1 (right). She is employed by the State of Florida Department of Children and Families and earns approximately 26K a year (before taxes). When she enrolled in the Childcare Resources program in August of 2009, her goal was to provide her family with financial stability, and immediately signed up for Childcare Resources' Money Smart program offered through the FDIC. Representatives from Riverside Bank and PNC Bank taught the monthly classes, and Rose was paired up with a volunteer mentor for additional support and encouragement as she worked towards a goal of saving $300 by June 30, 2010. Rose attended the monthly classes where she and her mentor, Beverly Swatt, discussed places in her budget where she could save money. She opened a savings account and started having a little bit automatically deposited into the account each pay period. She also started paying above the minimum balance on her credit cards.
Rose says
the information she’s learned through Money Smart has changed her life! By March she had met her goal of $300 in savings and has set a new goal for herself of soon reaching $500.
Rose began with $0 in savings and over $1,000 in credit card debt and is now completely out of debt with a nice emergency fund, which she continues to grow. In today’s economy, this is a huge accomplishment for a moderate income, single mother to be able to make such significant financial changes in five months! We are very proud of her, and more importantly, she is proud of herself. Rose's daughter Rosemelia has graduated from our program and started kindergarten. Adalie will soon attend the Childcare Resources Education Center! |
