Childcare Resources of Indian River recently recognized a new group of Higher Education Program graduates whose commitment to professional growth is helping shape the future of early childhood education in our community. During a celebration held in May, educators were honored for achieving important academic milestones and advancing their skills to better serve young children and families throughout Indian River County.

During the spring semester, Childcare Resources recognized the achievements of seven program participants: three who earned the Florida Child Care Professional Credential, two who completed their Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education, and two who earned a Master of Education.

"Without the support of Childcare Resources, this would not have been possible,” says Mirna Batres, who earned her A.S. degree from Indian River State College. “I am grateful for their investment in my future and proud to continue growing as an early childhood educator.”

Childcare Resources Higher Education Program graduate Yenni Kristianson received a Master of Education from the University of North Florida.

The Higher Education Program is designed specifically to support early childhood educators, offering flexible scheduling to accommodate working professionals. Tuition assistance is made possible through the TEACH Early Childhood Scholarship Program, and students benefit from partnerships with accredited colleges and universities throughout Florida.

“These graduates represent dedication and a deep commitment to children,” says Shannon McGuire Bowman, Executive Director of Childcare Resources. “We are proud to support educators as they grow, because their growth directly strengthens the experiences of the children they serve.”

With each graduating class, the program strengthens the early learning workforce across Indian River County, creating a ripple effect that benefits children, families, and the overall health of our community.
